Software ProPrompter ($10) – Get it on iTunes That will serve as an audible reference marker to sync your footage while editing. So if you are going to record with multiple cameras, you need to always clap or make a noise before you film. That second one is the most important if you ask me.
It’s in no way portable, but if you are going to be reading off a prompter constantly you’re ultimately going to want as big of a screen as you can get. It’s the professional version, and it costs well over $2,200. In the studio we use a large teleprompter made by Prompter People. Prompter People 19″ Teleprompter ($2,000+) – Get it from Prompter People The indiRAILSpro XVsm is the best, cheapest thing we know of, and it can also mount on a tripod so you can put it on and off for run and gun shooting. If you want to really take your prompter on the go, you’re going to need a shoulder rig to do it.
IndiRAILSpro XVsm ($249) – Get it from IndiSystem If you are going to put it on a tripod you’ll want to pick up one of these rail kits. If you get the ProPrompter, the first thing you’re going to want to do is either mount it on a tripod, or carry it on your shoulder. IndiRAILSpro 12″ ($99) – Get it from IndiSystem So email us if you are interested and we’ll facilitate that intro. But only with a personal introduction from either Cali or John. In theory, you could easily use a VGA splitter to connect to as many HDi Pros as you want! Each with a monitor, all slaved off the single iPad! OR, you can do like we did and use TWO HDi Pros, one with an iPad – the other with the 10″ monitor – and the iPad connection cable to mirror the output to the monitor! The HDi Pro 2 works with an iPad (and comes with the mount), or you can connect an optional 10″ monitor to it and us that with a computer. So that’s reason enough to support them!
